Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

Pennyglot doesn't collect any data about you. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

What stays on your device

Your currencies, your History, the exchange rates the app last downloaded, whether you use Basic or Convert mode, and your language choice are kept only on your device, and in your device's own backups (iCloud, Finder or Time Machine) if you make them.

On an iPhone, deleting the app removes all of this from the device. On a Mac, deleting the app leaves its data in your Library folder. On either, Clear History in the app removes your History from the device. Copies already in a backup stay there until that backup is deleted.

What the app sends

To get exchange rates, about once a day and whenever you tap Refresh Rates, the app asks ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) for the latest rates in US dollars. The request goes over HTTPS through Cloudflare, which that service uses.

Like any request on the internet, it carries your device's IP address. It also carries the label User-Agent: Pennyglot, which is the same for everyone, and no cookies. Nothing else is sent: no numbers you type, no History and no other identifiers.

Only when you ask

Opening Privacy Policy or Contact Support in the app loads this website, and tapping the rates credit in About Pennyglot on the iPhone (or in the Mac top bar) opens exchangerate-api.com, each only when you tap them. Emailing support sends us the message you write, forwarded by Cloudflare's email service.

Cloudflare, which hosts this site, sees each visit's IP address, as any web host does. We add no analytics and no cookies, and these pages load nothing from other sites.

ExchangeRate-API's own terms and privacy policy are at exchangerate-api.com/terms.

Children

The app is suitable for everyone, and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If this ever changes, this page will be updated before the app changes.
